Aug 10: For ages milk is considered a complete diet with nine essential nutrients having good effects on physical health of human being. a recent study added to its list ofenefits.
A research done at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario revealed that those who take two glasses of skimmed milk after exercise gain more muscle in comparison to those who take either sports drinks or other beverages. Additional gain of having milk after work out is that it loses fat of the body.
A study on a group of 56 men aged between 18 to 30 years were divided into three groups who consumed different drinks after weightlifting exercise for almost three month.
One group who were given milk gained muscles 40 and 60 percent more than other groups having soy and sports drinks.
They also left their contenders behind in reducing fat around 2.5 pounds. Group of men who used to take simple carbohydrate drink reduced just 1 pound while soy drinkers neither gained nor lost the weight.
Reason behind this told by Stuart Phillips was that muscle gain is due to the high quality natural protein in milk which is almost absent in sports drinks and has negligible fat content.
Head of the research said that digestion method of the protein of the milk is what creates the plot for more muscles.
Earlier studies too have revealed that menu within two hours of work-out determines how much you gain and how much you lose. But this time the effect of particular drinks have been studied.
Quoting the benefits of milk professor said that in a glass of milk one gets the whole package of essential nutrients which is very necessary for building muscles.
