The frenzy perpetuated amongst the Hindu group in Tamil Nadu, due to Kamal Hasan's film Dasavatharam, has proved futile with the Supreme Court's permission to release the movie today. The Tamil Vaishnavite group filed a plea before the court to stay the release of the movie as it includes portions that hurts Hindu cmunity.

The petitioners’ claims proved baseless when on being asked by the apex court, they denied watching the movie by themselves. After watching the trailers of the movie, petitioners R Bakhtavatsalam and Swami Govinda Ramanuja Dasa insisted that the film is likely to mar the sentiments of 50 crore Vaishnavites.

The Court permitted the release of the film in response to the counter affidavit filed by the filmmaker stating that there is nothing objectionable in the movie. However, the apex court granted the liberty to the petitioners to approach the Madras High court, if after watching the movie they still find anything offensively profane in it.

Dasavatharam has penetrated its way to the largest multiplexes and theatres and is in full disposition to rewind the historical record of Rajkinath's “Shivaji-the Boss”. This one of the most awaited movie of the year, on the very day of the release, will break two major records for being the first Tamil film to be released in 21 theatres in Chennai alone for over 135 shows a day. There is a house-full booking for the whole of the first week during which three lakh people are expected to watch the movie.

Kamal Hasan can be seen in 10 different 'Avatars' in the movie. The Hindi version of the film is yet to be released after two weeks. Superstar Rajnikant termed the movie as an extra-ordinary one during the special screening of the film. So be prepared to be carried along with the different moods projected by the movie.
