Sat, 31 May 2008:

Panic gripped the capital again on Saturday when officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) received an anonymous phone call threatening to blow up the rail network.

Metro officials received a phone call at around 1 pm that bombs are placed in busy Chawri Bazar station in New Delhi. Soon after bombisposal squads were put into action but nothing suspicious was noticed and again the call led to a hoax one.

This is the third such incident in this month that threat calls were being made. Earlier on May 15, a caller informed Delhi Police to blow up Sai Baba Temple in South Delhi but that later turned out to be a hoax after through investigation. A similar call was made on May 24 targeting the same Metro Station of Chawri Bazar, faltering the train movement but resulted none.

Causing large scale worries among passengers, extensive search was made and train service was resumed after nearly 10 minutes of search out by security official.

Meanwhile, the police is trying to figure out the origin of the call but under such circumstances, the security official and administration has nothing but to carry out an intensive search at the site.
