The major purpose of the education is to attain development in all aspects of life. Education helps student to become responsible, thoughtful, and inventive citizens. The primary purpose of the education is to discover child’s inherent qualities, and discover and mature their talents.


The innovation with aim to improve the education system in Government School was started by the Education Department of Government of Delhi in 2003.

The major features of the innovation include:

- All teachers graded in three categories Red, Green, and Yellow based upon their performance for Class X and XII.

- Merger of two single sex schools running in two shifts in the same building.

- Introduction of online attendance for teachers.

- Generation of online marks for evaluation of performance teacher-wise, class-wise and zone-wise, and district-wise of class VI onwards.

The onus of taking admission was shifted from student parents to Heads of Schools of Parent and Feeder Schools.

A Bridge Course was conceptualised to cover all the important topics from class I to V. In addition a choice based computerized transfer system combined with GIS based posting of new recruits was introduced.

Management Information System, MIS Mail was developed in which all the employees and branches of the Department were allotted internal e-mail IDs.

Online Feedback system for the citizens has also been introduced.

Attendance of teachers can be verified at any given point of time.

Along with these innovations the Education Department of Government of Delhi also set some objectives for it, which are:

•Universal Enrolment •Reduced drop out •Improved quality of Education •All round Development of Child •Joyful Learning

Achievements of the Department

- Result increased by an unprecedented 11.7% in class X in year 2006 and 17.39% in 2007. - Results of the merged went up by almost three times from 27.65% in 2005 to 50.94% in 2006 to 77.02% in 2007. - Pass percentage of all the classes improved substantially - Accountability of HoS was fixed in case the child was not admitted - A multimedia bridge course called Computer Aided Learning (CAL) Toonz was introduced. This resulted in 7.51% reduction in drop out rate in CAL Schools compared to 5.71% reduction in drop out rate in non-CAL schools and 16.58% increase in enrolment in class VII of CAL Schools compared to 14.34% of non-CAL Schools.
