Mon, 28 Apr 2008:

The two former champions Food Corporation of India (North Zone) and Delhi Audit will battle it out in the finals of the senior division of the Delhi Soccer Institutional league championship for the Chief Minister Cup scheduled to be played later at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.

Later on formidable Delhi Audit scored a convincing 4-1 victory over Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to make their way into the finals. Hitender Singh Rawat, Sameer Jung, Neeraj Chaudhary and Pawan Bhardwaj were the marksmen for the winners while veteran Pushpender Kundu scored the lone consolation goal for ESIC.

Delhi Audit completed its league engagements with 11 points from 5 matches while ESIC could only manage 7 from the same number of matches.

The final will be the battle between equals as both the teams have experienced senior players in their side but the FCI (NZ) team will have a little edge over its opponents since they have the services of younger players, who were roped in on internship basis, as compared to Audit team.

Meanwhile, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will take on Airport Authority of India (AAI) later in the day to decide the second finalist spot for ‘A’ division. The victorious team will fight it out with the Central Secretariat team who has reached in the finals.
