Anand extends lead to stay on top

India's chess ace and reigning World Champion Viswanathan Anand is going hard and strong staking his claim high for the title race of Morelia-Linares Super GM event as he settled for a quick draw with Azerbaijan’s Teimour Radjabov in the 11th round.

Defending champion Anand extended his lead to a full int after the end of round 11 of Morelia-Linares chess tournament played in Linares on Monday.

With just three rounds to go and two Whites to back him, Anand is all set to retain the crown.

With this draw, Anand had a total of seven points in the tally out of a possible 11. Anand was greatly benefited by the defeat of young Magnus Carlsen, who lost to Hungary’s Peter Leko.

In the other games of the day Levon Aronian played out a draw with Vassily Ivanchuk while Veselin Topalov defeated Alexei Shirov.
