Jammu on high alert as terrorists strike

Jammu has been put under high alert after three militants sneaked into the Chinore region holding five of a family as hostages on Wednesday. Five persons including an army officer were killed in the incident after militants open fired after entering into on the outskirts of this city.


The encounter betwe militants and army that began early in the morning is still continuing in which one terrorist has been successfully gunned down.

They have kept hostage five members of a family including one woman and four children.

Reportedly, three militants dressed in police uniforms were seen travelling in an autorickshaw, after killing the driver. Police statement identifies these militants who crossed into Jammu from the Kanachak area of Akhnoor sector of the international line of control on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, the rally called by the Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti has been postponed after the terror attack. The authorities had asked the Sangharsh Samiti official to suspend their rally schedule to be held at the parade ground.
