The violent agitation in the Kashmir valley and in Jammu triggered by the Amarnath shrine land allotment row has now taken a serious turn, and national and regional politics are at the very critical stage of understanding the crisis and reaching to an early resolution to the Jammu & Kashmir impasse.

e all-party meeting called by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday appealed for dialogue and creation of a positive atmosphere to end the controversy and restoring peace in region.

However, the government ruled out the recall of Governor NN Vohra. External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said “there is no question of recalling the Governor.” The demand was made by the Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti and the sate unit of Congress party itself.

There was unanimity among all parties present in the meeting for immediate restoration of peace and normalcy in the affected areas of Jammu & Kashmir. The Government also agreed to provide all necessary facilities to the pilgrims.

As Jammu & Kashmir over the years has been regarded as a symbol of the ‘secularism’ despite the Kashmir pundit issue and the potential of this agitation to adversely affecting the secular fabric of the nation, all parties are of the opinion that the situation of communalism should be prevented at all cost.

Meanwhile, in a fresh approach Governor NN Vohra has formed a four-member committee to hold talks with the Sangarsh Samiti. The announcement came soon after the all-party meeting held in New Delhi. Earlier the leaders of Samiti had rejected to hold any discussion with the governor.

The four-member committee constituting former J&K Chief Secretary S S Bloeria, vice-chancellor of Jammu University Amitabh Mattoo, retired judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice G D Sharma and Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board B B Vyas will have a fresh look at the issue including the demand of the Samiti.
