Ex-007 Brosnan tours White House

Washington, Wed, 20 May 2009 ANI

Washington, May 20 (ANI): Hollywood actor and former 007 Pierce Brosnan undertook his first tour of the White House on Tuesday and met with staff to discuss the preservation of whales.

Brosnan told Politico he didn't meet President Barack Obama but was thoroughly impressed by his first glimpse inside the White House.

"I've always viewed it from afar so to be in the hallowed halls was ... truly an honor," he said.

The Hollywood heartthrob caused a stir among the press corps - male and female alike. A scrum of cameras, both personal and professional, followed Brosnan as he made his way to the East Wing.

And apparently not all of Brosnan's fans inside the White House got to meet him. Michael Strautmanis came rushing out of the West Wing just minutes after Brosnan had left and was posing for pictures with a few other staffers.

"I wanted to be able to say this in public," Strautmanis said as he stretched out his hand, "It's good to see you again."

Brosnan said he believes he has many sympathetic ears in the administration on an issue he and his wife took up 16 years ago. (ANI)
