New Delhi, May 16 (IANS) Two railway policemen were stabbed to death by a goon in central Delhi, police said Saturday.
Two Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel E. Pandu Raj, 22, and J.C. Solanki, 23, were stabbed several times by Chawan Bala with a button-actuated knife on GB Road late Friday.
Bala was later arrested from his house in Nau Hariya road in the Ajmere Gate area.
Raj and Solanki had returned from Punjab where they had gone for election duty. They arrived at the Nizamuddin railway station in the capital and were planning to catch a morning train back home to Tamil Nadu, police said.
'The two went shopping in Connaught Place and then they went to GB Road. On their way, the had an argument with Bala which took an ugly turn. Solanki and Raj thrashed Bala, upon which he took out a knife and stabbed Raj in the abdomen five times,' said a police officer.
'Then he stabbed Solanki seven times and fled the spot. A bystander called the police, who rushed the severely bleeding railway policemen to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead,' the officer added.
The police said the victims' families have been informed and they were on their way to Delhi. A case has also been registered against the accused, who was recently released from jail on charges of drug trafficking.
