Avadh Express catches fire: reasons not known
Sep 24: On Monday morning Avadh Express passengers just had a narrow escape when five coaches of the train caught the fire near Ahmedabad and endangered the life of those on-board. The incident took place when people were just plunged into sleep for reasons not known yet.
Suddenly fire broke out in one of the coaches of the Express at midnight while the train which started from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh was passing through the Lakodra station. No one has been reported to be injured or hurt and everybody escaped safe. As soon as the fire was detected in the coaches of the train, the train was stopped and people were brought out of the train.
Like the fire of the forests it took other coaches too in its fold very quickly before the action could be taken to pacify it. Fire was so sudden and so fast that even fire tenders could not pressed into service and it spread to the five coaches.
The horrified passengers were taken to the other compartments of the train when the fire spread to the five compartments. The five burnt coaches were dropped at the station and train came on tracks again around 6:00 in the morning.
Railway department has given orders for immediate enquiry of the causes of the incident of coaches catching fire.
Incident affected the traffic badly on the railway tracks and delayed various trains leaving for different destinations. The worst affected line was Vadodara-Mumbai link.
Antony recommends disciplinary action against Lt. General Avadhesh Prakash .
