Botha signs up with Rajasthan Royals

Africa, Thu, 14 May 2009 IANS

Durban, May 14 (IANS) South Africa's one-day vice-captain Johan Botha, who was cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to play in the World Twenty20 despite banning his doosra, has been signed up by Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The South African spinner is likely to play in Rajasthan's next match against Mumbai Indians, Royals' coach Darren Berry said.

Rajasthan Royals' captain cum coach Shane Warne said: 'Johan Botha is a sensational player and we were disappointed when he couldn't be part of our squad at the start of the tournament. It is a real boost that he can now make an impact when called upon.'

Botha had been in talks with Rajasthan before the start of the tournament but then it was put on hold after he was reported for suspected action during the one-dayers against Australia.
