Michael Bay says LaBeouf wasn't drunk when nabbed for DUI
New York, Aug 2 (ANI): American filmmaker Michael Bay insists that actor Shia LaBeouf was not intoxicated when he was arrested for a DUI early last Sunday.
"He was not drunk. He was drinking hours and hours before," the New York Daily News quoted him as saying during an "Access Hollywood" interview.
Bay, however, admitted he'd had a talk with LaBeouf shortly before the accident about safety on the road.
"We had a little heart to heart the week before when he bought a brand new motorcycle," he recalled.
"I (said), 'Dude! You cannot ride that motorcycle! If you crash, you put 1,500 people out of work.' He said, 'Ok, I won't ride it, I won't ride it. I'll just drive my truck'," he said.
LaBeouf, 22, underwent extensive hand surgery after the accident, though his passenger, "Transformers" co-star Isabel Lucas, was not seriously injured.
Despite this, Bay seemed optimistic about the actor's return to the set.
"(Shia's) two fingers are pretty mashed, but we're figuring out a way to shoot around it, kind of write it in the story," he said. (ANI)
