Chennai, May 13 (IANS) Seven people were injured and four cars were damaged during election-related violence between supporters of the ruling DMK and the Islamic MMK here, police said Wednesday.

'MMK volunteers objected to alleged bogus voting by DMK workers, leading to a violent clash between the two groups at Ice House (in central Chennai),' a police official said.

'Swords, wooden clubs and stones were used during the fight. Police reinforcements were rushed to the spot to contain the violence,' he added.

No arrests have been made so far.

MMK sources said volunteers rushed their injured workers to nearby hospitals.

AIADMK chief and opposition leader Jayalalitha had also alleged rigging in several parts of the state.
