Raipur, May 11 (IANS) Several policemen were missing Monday after Maoist guerrillas ambushed a convoy in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district. Some personnel could have been killed in the first attack by insurgents in the area, police said.

The attack on the 40-member convoy in Dhamtari district's hilly Risgaon village, about 130 km from here, took place late Sunday. A helicopter has been sent to bring the injured to the state capital for medical attention.

'It's the first ever attack of insurgents in Dhamtari district. There are surely some casualties, but we are awaiting confirmation,' Pawan Deo, deputy inspector general (Maoist operation), police headquarters, told IANS.
