India asks Pak to provide more security for Friendship Bus Service

Lahore, Mon, 11 May 2009 ANI

Lahore, May 11 (ANI): India has written a letter to Pakistan's Interior Ministry to complain about insufficient security measures for the Indo-Pak Friendship Bus Service.

The Interior Ministry has decided to enhance the security for the bus service and directed the Punjab Home Department to ensure foolproof security arrangements, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.

The Punjab Home Department has put the Lahore capital city police officer and the Superintendent of Police on high alert and asked the Sheikhupura region police officer and the Nankana Sahib district coordination officer to ensure security for the bus.

The bus service was re-started on July 11, 2003. The service, launched in 1999, was suspended after the 2001 Parliament attack. (ANI)
