West Bengal records turnout of 75 percent, Bihar 37 percent

New Delhi, May 7 (IANS) West Bengal recorded a high of 75 percent and Bihar a low of 37 percent voter turnout in the fourth round of the Lok Sabha elections. The national capital saw a voter turnout of around 50 percent, the Election Commission announced Thursday.

 

Of the other five states that went to the polls, Haryana saw 63 percent polling, Punjab 65, Jammu and Kashmir 24; it was around 50 percent in Rajasthan as well as Uttar Pradesh.

 

 

The overall voter turnout was estimated at 57 percent, said R. Balakrishnan, deputy election commissioner.
