Jammu and Kashmir Governor asks Centre to increase Haj quota

Srinagar, July 30 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today urged the Centre to enhance the Haj quota by additional 3000 seats.
An official spokesman said: "Vohra has asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to enhance the Haj quota by 3000 seats to accommodate maximum Haj aspirants from the State."
At least 6,228 pilgrims were selected in a draw held here at Haj house out of 16,000 aspirants on July 10.

Earlier, the Centre had reduced the Haj quota of the State from over 10,000 to around 6000 pilgrims a year. (ANI)
