Mayawati cleanses the image of BSP in Gujarat
Sep 17: On Sunday when Mayawati entered Vadodara Polo Ground she came with the aspiration and according time-proof strategy (Brahmin-dalit combination) to establish her party in Gujarat completely. Her announcement that her party will contest all the 182 seats of Gujarat assembly independently without aligning to any party clearly spelled her ambition of preparing the base to be an indispensible power at centre in coming years.

Ms. Mayawati clarified various doubts and misconceptions in the minds of upper castes about her party saying that BJP and Congress have projected her party as ‘anti-upper caste’. She also denied the slogans to insult the upper caste saying that rivals attributed such things to her party. She clarified that her party is not anti-upper caste citing the tickets given to upper caste candidates by the party during elections in UP.
She accused Congress and BJP of creating fissures in society in the name of caste and religion. Her party works to unite the all sections of society she said. She also presented her party as the only alternative at central level.
Clearly the rally was organized to persuade the upper-caste and put the same Brahmin-dalit challenge before congress and BJP as it did in UP.
On reservation issue she in vocal terms advocated the same both in public and private sectors. She told about the reservation her government provided in private sectors to upper castes too. Ms. Mayawati also advocated the amendment of the constitution to provide reservation to the economically backward upper caste which she said was turned down by the Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh. She promised to provide reservation in private sectors and to the poor among the upper caste at the national level too if her party comes to power at centre.
She also blamed Congress and BJP for neglecting the interests of the poor and taking care of industrialists and capitalists only. She appealed to her party workers to launch an intense campaign to clear the misunderstanding about her party.
Gujarat is another step forward to national power for Mayawati. Presently BSP does not have a single seat out of 182 seats of Gujarat assembly.
