Taliban a threat to India: BJP

National,Politics, Sun, 26 Apr 2009 IANS

Gwalior, April 25 (IANS) The Taliban were a threat not only to Pakistan but also to India, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh said here Saturday.

'The UPA (Congress-led United Progressive Alliance) government does not have the willpower to fight terrorism,' Singh said while addressing a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Yashodhara Raje Scindia here.

For instance, he said, the BJP extended full support to the government after the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks but the UPA did nothing to give a befitting reply to the enemies of the nation.

Singh also said India did not witness adequate development despite the Congress ruling the country for close to 50 years.

Addressing another rally at Mungawali in the Guna constituency in support of BJP candidate Narottam Mishra, Singh said the Congress kept postponing Pokharan-II, the second round of nuclear tests, for years but they became a reality after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power.
