Security at Thiruvananthapuram stepped up after a false alarm
May 1: After a tipoff received by a police station at Mangalore, Karnataka, the two flights bound for Thiruvananthapuram were thoroughly scrutinized at the airport. The police station at Karnataka said that they were informed of an bomb being planted in one of the planes returning from Gulf.
The information was passed on to the security at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and a swarm of security officers rushed to search and diffuse the bomb. The two planes searched were Air India Expressâ??s Doha-Thiruvanathapuram-Kozhikode flight and Qatar Airwaysâ??s Doha-Thiruvananthapuram-Doha flight. The passengers were also met by inconveniences as their luggage was checked by the security personnel.
After a tedious search there was no sign of a bomb plantation and it all came out to be a hoax. The security at the airport was also stepped up.
The situation was better and under control till last reports reached here at 1.00 p.m. The flight schedule has been restored after short delays at the airport.
