Sikh body seeks UN intervention in Sri Lanka

National, Fri, 24 Apr 2009 IANS

Amritsar, April 24 (IANS) Expressing its solidarity with the Tamil population in the war-ravaged north Sri Lanka, a radical Sikh organization Dal Khalsa Friday urged the UN to intervene and save the thousands of people trapped in the conflict zone.

Dal Khalsa's secretary for political affairs Kanwar Pal Singh said the organization was 'moved by the sufferings of the Tamil population in Sri Lanka'.

'The Sri Lankan government is getting away with broad daylight murder and mayhem while the international community has failed to take action to minimise the misery and suffering of the thousands in Sri Lanka. This is in violation of all UN norms and resolutions on human rights,' Kanwar Pal Singh said in a statement here.

Singh said the support of the Indian government to the Sri Lankan Army's onslaught was not good for the overall peace and stability in the subcontinent.

Well said, for speaking the truth and what is right, moral and ethical.Only international action through the UN can deal with a serious war crimes and genocidal situation like what is unfolding before the whole whole world by an utterly unhinged rogue state in South Asia.
