Sep 15: Some days ago Mayawati cancelled almost 6500 recruitments of police constables who were undergoing training for the last September due to some discrepancies in selection procedure on the report of the committee and suspended 12 high officials including DIG and DG.

Today in a Judgement of Allahabad High Court, around 13,000 recruitments of Urdu primary teachers has been scrapped on the ground that vacancies for which the recruitment has been done do not exist.

The court said that there was no need for the appointment of Urdu teachers in primary schools, as these posts did not exist in these schools.

Sambul Naqvi filed a petition in the court contending that direct recruitment was done through the special training course even while qualified teachers were available for the existing posts. Several discrepancies were found as the posts for which appointments were done were not declared vacant officially.

Judge Arun Tandon said that how recruitment could be made on posts which are non-existent?

Though the recruitment was defended by former Advocate General SMA Kazmi on the basis that the step was taken for the spread of the language but the plea was rejected by the court saying it a weak argument.

Court also observed that State Government had also not secured permission for the basic training certificate course, Urdu by the National Council for Teachers’ Education (NCTE) which is required under section 14-15 of NCTE act.

The court held that the whole process was illegal and violated statutory rules. The court also said that admissions to the BTC course are illegal and district institutes of education can not impart any such training to the candidates.
