Bhambri gets wild card for Delhi ITF

New Delhi, April 19 (IANS) India's Yuki Bhambri has been handed a wild card for the $15,000 BHEL International Tennis Federation (ITF) men's Futures that begins at the DLTA complex here Monday.

 

Yuki, who won the junior Australian Open in January, will open his campaign against Israeli qualifier Saar Steele Tuesday. Navdeep Singh, Abhijeet Tiwari and Vijayant Malik are the other three Indians to get the wild card.

 

 

Four Indians, Tushar Liberhan, N. Prashanth, Vijay Kannan, Karunuday Singh, have made it to the main draw through the qualifiers.

 

 

The Indian boys have recently returned from a month-long training in the Nick Bollettieri Academy and have been preaparing in the 11-day Commonwealth Games camp at the DLTA which concluded Saturday.

 

 

The players have worked hard on the their fitness at the Bollettieri and have followed the regimen in the camp. The tournament will be a testing ground to assess their performance.

 

 

South African Raven Klaasen, ranked 342, has got the top billing while Korean Yuichi Ito and Goran Tosic of Montenegro has been given second and third seeding.
