'Heat wave conditions are prevailing in several areas of the state. Several places recorded maximum temperature above 40 degrees today (Saturday),' A. Das, an official at the Bhubaneswar meteorological office, told IANS.

The same condition is likely to prevail over some part of the state during the next 48 hours, he said, adding that the weather will remain mainly dry.
