Ahmedabad Police diffuse another live bomb

Ahmedabad, July 27 (ANI): A day after serial blasts rocked Ahmedabad, the city police diffused a live bomb in a garbage bin. The bomb was found by a sweeper while cleaning the bin.

 

Immediately a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot and the bomb was diffused successfully.

 

On preliminary examination, the material used in the bomb was found to be similar to the one used in earlier blasts.

 

RD Yadav, a senior constable in the Bomb Disposal Squad said that splinters and explosive material were used in making the bomb.

 

"The materials found from inside the bomb have been sent for investigations. Material used for explosive and splinters are the same as found in earlier blasts. And, a timer was also used," said Yadav.

 

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended in the city, with fear casting its ugly shadow on the city's residents.

 

There was little movement on the streets as people were still reeling under the shock of Saturday's blasts killing at least 38 people and wounding nearly 100. the blasts came a day after serial blasts in Bangalore.

 

Residents said that an atmosphere of fear loomed large over the city, and people were scared, though a new day has brought a hope for a better tomorrow.

 

"There is an atmosphere of fear. People are afraid and troubled. Everybody is scared. The new day has brought a hope of a new and better beginning," said Ajay, a resident.

 

The blasts were condemned by the residents who urged people to maintain peace and stand united in the hour of crisis.

 

"Whatever has happened is not a good thing. People should remain united in this hour of crisis. Whatever is happened is not right," said Abdullah Bhai, another resident.

 

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi pledged to bring the perpetrators behind the blasts to book and take strict action against them.

 

"We will not leave any stone unturned to find out the perpetrators behind this inhuman act. We will see to it they are dealt with strictly. I appeal to the people of Gujarat to remain united and maintain peace," said Modi. (ANI)
