Girl turned into militant for love in Kashmir valley
Sep 10: This is not a Bollywood flick but a real life drama, Nahida who fell in love with the Hijbul Mujahideen militant turns up to become an arms supplier. With the arrest of the girl it is now clear that militants in the valley are trying to use women especially the educated one who can move freely in the region without suspicion.

Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested Nahida, a student of Dogra Law College, on Jammu –Poonch highway at Tanda army camp while smuggling grenades and Under Barrel Grenade Launcher from Surankoot.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Inspector General Police Sheesh Pal Vaid said: “We have arrested a girl student of a local Law College, Nahida Altaf, on a tip-off, at Tanda in Akhnoor, 30 km from here.
Nahida, daughter of policeman Altaf Hussain of Surankote (Poonch) on interrogation, said that she was given the consignment by Altaf Ahmad and she was to pass it on to Fayaz Ahmad Talaak of Anantnag.
Police arrested her while she was travelling from Surankut to Poonch with her parents. Her parents denied that they knew of the arms carried in the car.
Based on information of Intelligence agency, Special Operation group was keeping a close eye on Nahida, which prompted her arrest.
On her interrogation police arrested Altaf Ahmed from Udhampur, he spent nine year in jail on charges of blast at Mednhar bus stand that killed many people and left many injured. Nahida also confessed of love that brought her in the network.
Dr G Varandani, Principal, Dogra Law College, said that Nahida is not a regular and she her life outside is not known to her classmate and teachers.
Inspector General of Police of Jammu, S P Vaid said that Nahida came in contact of Altaf who, after eight years of imprisonment, was released two months back, and is reactivated into the militancy.
Police is investing the matter to find out if there was a nexus of militant.
Militants in the valley are known to motivate student, especially girls to join the organisations. Hizbul Mujahedeen is one of the largest militant groups operating in Kashmir, which advocates Kashmir’s merging in Pakistan and support Islamisation of the whole valley.
Kashmir is facing the problems of losing their children to the militant group, who lure them with many false hopes. Nahida, who is in her twenty’s is not just only case, but there are many more who lost their path only to realise later.
