Intel predicts world of mobile internet devices 'set to explode'

London, July 26 (ANI): Chip maker Intel predicts that the world of mobile internet devices is set to explode in the short span on the next four years.

Intel has based its prediction on research it has carried out.

According to the data collected, portable net-enabled devices are set to grow to 1.2 billion by 2012.

"The demand is there and the need is there and our technology can meet those needs," the BBC quoted Intel's Gadi Singer, head of Intel's mobility group, as saying.

"The fact that people want to be on the internet all the time means they will be looking for the ability they have today say at their desk and to have that anytime and anywhere.

"That creates the demand for new devices and more sophisticated devices with the computing power and connectivity presenting a major opportunity."

Intel released the figures along with eight "system on a chip" designs that are aimed at the portable web-browsing market including car entertainments systems, smart phones, notebooks and industrial robots. (ANI)
