Indian hockey awaits coach Brasa's approval
New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) Spaniard Jose Brasa has been sent a final offer to become India's hockey coach.
The convener of ad-hoc Committee Mohammad Aslam Sher Khan said the committee has sent the offer last week and is waiting for Brasa's approval.
'The process of appointment of a new hockey coach is in the final stage. We have made a formal offer to Jose Brasa. The decision on the coach should be finalised within a month.'
Aslam, however, refused to divulge any details on the appointment.
Brasa had coached the Spanish women's team to gold medal in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Indian hockey team is without a coach since the Australian Ric Charlesworth's resignation after a fall-out with the officials.
Brasa, who came to India in January to meet the Indian Olympic Association officials, had clearly spelt out his conditions for taking up the job. He asked for a qualified physical trainer and a physiotherapist besides proper technical back-up.
Brasa also insisted on a fixed tenure, till at least the 2012 London Olympics.
