“The key to the next government at the Centre lies in our hands,” said the newly formed triad of RJD-SP-LJP chiefs Lalu-Mulayam-Paswan respectively while addressing an election meeting in Saifia in Etawah district, the native village of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The so-called ‘fourth front’ said they were not opportunist and had not come together for the purpose of Lok Sabha elections only instead the trio reiterated that ‘we are one and will continue to remain one’.

RJD supremo and Union Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, declared in firm voice, “we are united once again to fight conjointly the communal forces and no power on this earth can now separate the three of us. We will also contest the state assembly elections together,” and added, “We are going to form the next government at the Centre.”

He said Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati will be defeated by the unity of the three parties that can be broken by none.

To enthuse people at the rally, the local leader Mulayam supporting Lalu’s statement said, “Let me tell you that without the support of three of us, no government at the Centre could be formed.”

Continuing the passionate speeches of the duo, LJP leader Ramvilas Paswan said: “The united strength of the three states represented by us - Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh - will determine who will occupy the prime minister’s chair.”

He, however, said: “At this point of time we are in UPA and Manmohan Singh is our prime ministerial candidate,” and repeated, “The key to the next government at the Centre lies in our hand.”

Launching attack on Chief Minister Mayawati, Paswan said without uttering her name that some people act as if they were friends but they were not, and added that ‘our fight is for the rights of the poor’.
