Mufti for resumption of India-Pakistan peace talks
Jammu, April 9 (IANS) Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed Thursday said his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would work to re-initiate peace talks between India and Pakistan.
'With the support of the people the PDP will persuade both India and Pakistan to re-initiate the peace process and take concrete steps for the solution of the Kashmir problem,' Mufti Sayeed said at an election meeting in Mendhar, 200 km north of Jammu.
The dialogue between India and Pakistan has been stalled after last year's Mumbai attacks, which New Delhi has blamed on elements in Pakistan.
The PDP patron said the agenda of his party was 'not to attain power but to establish lasting peace and tranquility in this region'.
'We want your support to carry forward our unaccomplished political and economic agenda which is aimed at changing fate of the state,' he said.
