Terror trails: from Jaipur to Bangalore

Terror has struck once again. This time it is Bangalore where serial bomb blasts rocked the city popularly known as India’s electronic city. According to preliminary reports, at least two people have been killed and 20 people wounded in a series of seven blasts so far, the first explosion occurred at a check post in Madiwala around 1:30 pm and all the blasts took place within a span of 12 minutes.

 

Besides Madivala bus stop, blasts took place at Hossur road, Adugudi, Koramangla, Mysore Road and Nayadahalli.


According to Bangalore Police Commissioner, Shanker Bidri, seven blasts rocked Bangalore, which were of low intensity crude bombs were triggered by a timer. Bomb disposal squads have reached the blasts sites. Schools, colleges, cinema halls and commercial complexes have been shut down.


According to Intelligence Bureau sources, SIMI and LeT may be behind the Bangalore blasts and they could be retaliatory in nature. The injured have been admitted to the St Johns Hospital in Bangalore.


As the news of the blasts coming in, there is a possibility of more casualty as it has been the case with earlier bomb blasts on Indian soil. Meanwhile, panic has gripped the city as all telephone lines have been jammed. Rescue work is going on and all the injured are being taken to the Mallya Hospital. High alert has been sounded in Delhi and Mumbai.


This is a major terror strike after May 11 serial blasts that rocked pink city of Jaipur in which more than 60 people had lost their life and more than 100 inured.
