Darjeeling, April 9 (IANS) With top Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leaders by his side, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) heavyweight Jaswant Singh filed his nomination for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal Thursday.

'I feel humble,' the BJP leader said after completing the nomination formalities at the district magistrate's office in Darjeeling town.

GJM president Bimal Gurung stood all smiles besides Jaswant Singh, who has handled prominent portfolios like finance, defence and external affairs in the past and is presently the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

The GJM is supporting Jaswant Singh's candidature and is now a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after the BJP agreed to sympathetically consider its demand for Gorkhaland - a separate state to be formed out of Darjeeling and the foothills of the Himalayas that are now a part of West Bengal.
