Taliban is Pakistan's best bet to counter India's increasing regional influence: US Experts
Washington, Apr.9 (ANI): Pakistan may never be able to tackle the increasing influence of the Taliban, as it considers the outlawed group as its best bet to counter the growing influence of India in the region, experts believe.
US policymakers are also skeptical about Pakistan's role in the US led war against the Taliban and other terrorist groups.
Experts opined that Islamabad fears New Delhi expanding its influence in a Taliban -free Afghanistan, The Daily Times reported.
"Pakistani security officials calculate that the Taliban offers the best chance for countering India's regional influence," Lisa Curtis of the Heritage Foundation said.
The Obama Administration should therefore, rethink its proposal to provide Pakistan with more financial support, as it could be redirected from its original use, the experts suggest. (ANI)
