Pak journalist says Sharif brothers be held responsible if he is killed

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Lahore, July 25 (ANI): A top journalist in Lahore has said that he feared for his life, and that in case he was killed, Sharif brothers - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and ex-premier Nawaz Sharif - should be held responsible.

He said the duo was behind his life because he was privy to a meeting between Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and ex-PM Nawaz Sharif in 1989 when the international fugitive gave the latter Rs1.5 billion to topple Benazir Bhutto government.

There was a long tale of Nawaz' corruption ranging from 'Yellow Cab' scheme, to 'Motorway Project' and from 'Raiwind Palace' to 'LDA Plots', the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

He alleged that Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden had given Nawaz Rs 1.5 billion at Madina's Green Palace Hotel in 1989, and that Nawaz spent Rs 290-350 million to table a no-confidence motion against the then premier Benazir Bhutto.

Afridi said he was present on the occasion when Osama gave Nawaz the money. Nawaz expressed his desire to follow Osama's ideas and support jihadi outfits, Afride claimed.

He also said that Maj Gen Zafar Abaas, ISI's Brig Riazullah Khan and Lt Gen Salahudin Tirmizi were drug-smugglers and the Sharif brothers their partners. (ANI)
