Six injured in second Assam blast

Guwahati, Mon, 06 Apr 2009 ANI

Guwahati, Apr 6 (ANI): Six people were feared injured in a second bomb blast in the Dhekiajuli area of Sonitpur District this afternoon.

The incident occurred soon after a bomb blast had claimed six lives in Guwahati's Maligaon area.

The blasts came a day before the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh's, visit to Assam.

According to police, the rebel United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is under suspicion for the incidents.

These blasts took place ahead of the ULFA's 30th 'Flag Raising Day'.

The blast site was cordoned off by security forces.

Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta has spoken to Assam Chief Secretary P. C. Sharma and asked him to strengthen security arrangements in Guwahati and other places.

According to PMO sources, Manmohan Singh's visit to the State remains unchanged. (ANI)
