World Economic Forum focuses on new Champions
Sep 06: Indian contingent has headed for the summer Davos, which is in progress at Dalian in China. This meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) will be attended by India Inc. CEO’s and MP’s including Narendra Modi, Naveen Jindal and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission N K Singh and Indian Ambassador to China Nirupama Rao, Chairman, Essar Group, Shashi Ruia; CEO and Managing Director of Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, Malvinder Mohan Singh are also expected to attend the meeting.
This forum is organized to give a platform to the New Champions – the community of Global Growth Companies to interact with the world leaders.
Klaus Schwab, founder and chairman of this forum has been involved in a closer international exchange with China since 1979. He chooses Dalian to host this inaugural Annual meeting of the New Champions as it demonstrates the potential growth.
Klaus Schwab said that the Forum is committed to improve the state of the world. And that it wants to act as a catalyst for global change.
The Inaugural Meeting of the New Champions 2007, will last for three days from 6th to 8th of September. About 1700 delegates from over 90 countries are expected to attend the meeting.
Wen Jiabao, the Chinese Premier will address inaugural session of the meeting. Discussion on various global changing business environment as well as Chinas developments are on the card.
Head of the World Economic Forum Beijing Office, Jeremy Jurgens, welcomed the Indian delegates, and expected the meeting to discuss the fastest growing economies of the world India and China.
There will be a discussion on India under the title: ‘Growth Hotspots - Focus on India.´
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will host Gujarat Dinner to woo businessman from all over the world to invest in his state, Gujarat.
World Economic Forum in Davos focuses on top 500 companies, but the participants here have a turnover between $100 million and $5 million.
Jeremy Jurgens, World Economic Forum Chief Representative in Beijing, Director of the Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions, remarked “The Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions will be an arena where the next generation of business leaders can meet, cooperate and exchange ideas."
World Economic Forum is a Geneva based foundations which provide a platform to debate and discuss the major social issue of the World. It is usually held in Davos with occasional regional meetings.
Dalian World Economic Forum addresses the intention of China to bring understanding with the cooperation and closer ties with the world.
This forum will contribute to tap the best of the ideas from different established and emerging companies from all over the world and share the responsibility to improve social, economic and environmental issues.
