Nafisa Ali replaces Sanjay Dutt as SP candidate from Lucknow
New Delhi, Apr 5 (ANI): The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday announced Nafisa Ali as its candidate from the Lucknow parliamentary constituency for upcoming general elections.
Nafisa will replace actor Sanjay Dutt, who was denied permission to contest the Lok Sabha polls by the Supreme Court.
Ali had contested as a Congress candidate from the Kolkata (South) seat in the last general elections.
SP General Secretary Amar Singh, however, said Sanjay Dutt would remain the star campaigner of the party.
Dutt was barred from contesting the elections by the Supreme Court because of his conviction under the Arms Act in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
Dutt, who sentenced to a jail term of six years, is currently out on bail. (ANI)
