PCB sacks Sohail for failure to arrange sponsors
Lahore, Apr.3 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sacked Aamir Sohail from the post of Director (Marketing) following his failure to arrange sponsors for the Pakistan-Australia UAE one-day international series.
The PCB's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Saleem Altaf confirmed the report. However, he said that Sohail will continue in his primary post of Director of the National Cricket Academy and Game Development.
"The marketing department will now report directly to the chairman until a new director, marketing, is appointed," The Nation quoted Altaf, as saying.
Altaf informed that the board has already advertised for the post, and hoped that an appointment would materialize soon.
According to sources, PCB chief Ijaz Butt also expressed dissatisfaction over Sohail's failure to finalise sponsors.
Lack of sponsorship has further dented PCB's hopes of making a profit from the proposed tournament, as a series of tour cancellations has depleted the board's resources and its financial status.
The series, which was arranged after Australia refused to visit Pakistan citing security reasons, would be played from April 22-May 7 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. (ANI)
