'Musharraf may use Article 58-2(b) if judges are restored'
Lahore, July 23 (ANI): Pakistan's Former Foreign Minister and member Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Asif Ahmed Ali, today said even if the judges are restored through passing a resolution, President Pervez Musharraf will still have the option to use Article 58-2(b).
He said this while addressing a seminar organized by People's Forum here at Lahore High Court on Wednesday.
"In case the powers under 58-2(b) are used the case in this regard will have to be moved in the present Supreme Court...and the decision to which should be a foregone conclusion for those who are pushing for the resolution," Asif observed.
He pointed out that PPP could not receive a heavy mandate in Punjab and the party could not even win from the constituency in which Benazir Bhutto was assassinated.
Therefore, coalition between PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-N cannot go on for long, The News quoted Asif, as saying. (ANI)
