Kanpur, Apr 1 (ANI): The state police resorted to baton charge to control a huge crowd that had gathered at the Electoral Office in Kanpur.
Around five persons received minor bruises in the police action.
On their part, the police personnel did not detain any person.
The injured persons alleged that they had been standing in a queue for long hours and also that they had been making repeated trips to the Electoral Office to collect their voter identity cards.
Further, they charged the concerned authorities of collecting money from the voter ID cards as fees whereas not even one card was scrutinised, leave alone the issuance.
"They took rupees 50 initially. They clicked our photographs. On three occasions, we have given money but till today the identification paper hasn't been received by us," said Masood, a resident.
