Govt provides concession for physically challenged in UPSC
April 28: Giving concession to physically challenged candidates, the central government has decided to increase their number of attempts to seven times from the current four in the Central Civil Service Examination.
It has also been decided that the physically challenged candidates selected under non-disabled category will be counted over the quota fixed for the disabled.

However, the number of attempts for the OBC, which is seven times and for SC, ST, remains unchanged. As far as upper age limit is concerned, the relaxation of ten years will remain the same.
With these concessions, the government aims to extend the participation of physically challenged persons in civil services. Government will also take help and has appointed medical experts in examining candidates for a fair assessment.
UPSC after considering all eligibility criteria will recommend physically challenged candidates for identified services. It has further been mentioned that reservation for the three categories of disability will remain separate. However, the terms can be interchanged if candidates for a specific service where the vacancy exists are not available.
