England selectors demand explanation from Vaughan

London, July 23 (ANI): England's Chief Selector Geoff Miller has asked captain Michael Vaughan to explain and justify his critical comments on team selection.

According to The Sun, Miller will ask Vaughan to explain why he thought muddled thinking and selection-wrecked England's team unity.

Miller was so perturbed by Vaughan's comments that he made a personal visit to the captain last night.

Miller revealed: "I need to know exactly what he said and clarify why he said it. If there has been an issue in the dressing room, I need to discuss it and find out where we stand. Everyone is entitled to his own opinions, but I need to find out what made Michael make those comments.

"This is professional sport. I'm the national selector, Michael is the captain - we're both in this together. We must make sure we're on an even keel."

The four selectors - Miller, James Whitaker, Ashley Giles and head coach Peter Moores - pick the squad.

Vaughan and Moores normally have the final say on the XI that takes the field.

In the aftermath of England's crushing 10-wicket defeat against South Africa on Monday, Vaughan admitted selection looked 'confused'.

He said dropping Paul Collingwood and including Darren Pattinson, who was like a stranger in the dressing room, unsettled morale. (ANI)
