I have always given special place and respect to women: Mulayam
Lucknow, Mar 27 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday said he always respected women and also given them proper respect and place in the party.
"I have never made any derogatory statement against any woman. As you know, I respect women. I have always given special place and respect to women in my party," Yadav told reporters here.
On March 23, Yadav had targeted Mainpuri District Magistrate Ministhy Dileep, saying: She is a woman and that is why I am not making any comments on her. She should get her brain checked and should be aware of the fact that Mulayam is contesting from Mainpuri."
According to reports, Yadav made the comments after his local party workers blamed Ministhy for confiscating licensed arms of people supporting the party, as they were being used to threaten rival supporters.
The district administration complained to the poll panel about his comments. (ANI)
