National Conference to support Manmohan Government : Omar Abdullah

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Making a brief but forceful statement in the Parliament during the vote of confidence today, Omar Abdullah, the National Conference leader opted to speak his mind before the trust vote.

Omar Abdullah said that it was being stated that the nuclear deal is with the USA and the Muslims should not vote for it.

"I do not agree with this argument," he said.

Referring to his experience as a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Omar said: "I have been part of the National Democratic Alliance previously. But it keeps pricking my conscious even today that I didn't resign when the Godhra violence (in 2002) took place. I am a Muslim and an Indian, and I feel no difference between the two."

"I am a Kashmiri and we have objected recently in Kashmir for our land. No where in Kashmir, anyone objected to the Amarnath Yatris (pilgrims). They will continue to take up their pilgrimage in future too," Omar added. (ANI)
