Ex Black Cap McMillan makes his television debut in Napier Test

Napier (New Zealand), Mar. 26 (ANI): Former New Zealand cricketer Craig McMillan has made his debut for Sky TV, but for how long remains to be seen.

McMillan's playing link with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) is likely to raise a few eyebrows at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), not to mention broadcaster Sony.

Sony spent a billion dollars purchasing the broadcasting rights to the sanctioned Indian Premier League (IPL).

They are also the major broadcaster of all international cricket out of New Zealand to the tune of about NZ dollars 25 million.

McMillan is filling in for Indian Ravi Shastri who has gone home for a birthday, may not see the test out or, if the opportunity arises, get to call the third test in Wellington beginning Friday of next week.

Sky's acting executive producer for cricket James Cameron confirmed McMillan would be in the commentary box for this test but would not comment further, clearly mindful of the potential repercussions from powerhouse India and Sony.

However, Cameron has told The Dominion Post previously that he had informed Sony that McMillan would be required for the second test. He never got a response from them.

He also said last week that Sky was determined to stick to its guns because it did not want to be dictated to over who it could and could not use on air. (ANI)
