No action over Brit MP's 'Commons sex romp'

London, Mar 26 (ANI): Westminster's watchdog hasn't found sufficient evidence supporting Senior Labour MP Nigel Griffiths sex romp allegations, it has emerged.

John Lyon, the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, said he did not have sufficient information of an alleged breach of the MPs' code of conduct to justify an inquiry.

A British tabloid newspaper had accused Griffiths of cheating on his wife by having sex with a brunette inside his House of Commons office.

Lyon said that the allegations were Griffiths' personal behaviour and private life, which fell outside MP's code of conduct.

Griffiths, the MP for Edinburgh South, refused to comment on the matter.

However, John Wallace, an Edinburgh resident who was one of three people believed to have submitted a complaint, said he was "disgusted" that no action was taken.

He is planning to submit a second complaint questioning whether Griffiths breached Commons security rules by inviting the woman into his office.

"If a member of the British armed forces did what Mr Griffiths, as a Member of Parliament, seemed to, they would have been sacked," the Scotsman quoted Wallace, who served in the army for seven years, as saying.

"It did bring the House into disrepute. It's not his office; it's our office. The taxpayers own the office and he was having sex with someone in our office," he added. (ANI)
