London, Mar.26 (ANI): Former England mid-fielder and now manager of the Tottenham Hotspur football club Harry Redknapp has set the record straight over his bitter row with England football coach Fabio Capello.
In his exclusive SunSport column today, Redknapp spelled out why he did not want Capello to pick his defender Ledley King for England's double- header against Slovakia and Ukraine.
He said he was stunned by claims that he used King to undermine Capello.e declared: "I probably love England more than any recent England boss. After all, I'm an English manager - and there aren't many of us about. I have incredible respect for Fabio Capello, who I have met only twice. He is by far the best man for the job and is doing a great job. He has the best squad of England players since 1970 and is getting the best out of them."
"No one is more passionate or proud of the England football team than me. I really want Capello to succeed and I support him 100 per cent," he added.et Redknapp was furious that the Italian ignored Spurs warnings and insisted on including King in his squad.
Embarrassingly, King was then sent back when doctors confirmed he was too injured to be involved.
Redknapp has nursed King through his ongoing knee injury, ensuring he is rested between matches and not forced to endure tough training sessions. (ANI)
