Varun's future not bright if he takes lessons from Advani and Togadia: Congress
New Delhi, Mar. 25 (ANI): Congress party has said that Varun Gandhi's political future is not bright if he is taking communal lessons from BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani and Vishwa Hindu Parishadh chief Praveen Togadia.
Varun Gandhi, BJP's MP from Pilibhit, is embroiled in a controversy for allegedly making derogatory comments about Muslims.
"Priyanka is right in saying that Varun should read Bhagwad Gita, should learn our religion. If he has learnt the definition of religion from communal people such as and Togadia, then I think that his future is not bright," said Digvijay Singh, Congress General Secretary.
On Wednesday, the Allahabad High Court dismissed plea of Varun Gandhi, seeking nullification of an FIR filed against him for his alleged inflammatory speeches.
Election Commission had earlier found Gandhi guilty of delivering a hate speech in a recent election rally.
BJP was advised by the election Commission to drop Gandhi as their candidate, but the party refused.
The video footage of the Pilibhit rally quotes Gandhi, as saying that he would cut off the hands of Muslims who threatened Hindus, and compared a rival Muslim candidate to Osama bin Laden.
The general elections will be held between April 16 and May 13. (ANI)
