Rainfall lowers temperature in Chandigarh, neighbouring states
Chandigarh, March 25 (IANS) Rainfall at regular intervals in the union territory of Chandigarh and its neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana has lowered the day and night temperature in the region.
'Due to western disturbances, there has been moderate to heavy rainfall in most parts of Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and in some regions of Haryana. Similar conditions will prevail in the entire region for the next 48 hours,' director of meteorological department, Chandigarh, Chatar Singh Malik told IANS Wednesday.
'There is a possibility of hailstorm and thunderstorm in the region during the evening and night. The skies would remain cloudy and there would be a further dip in night temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the coming days.'
Malik said thunderstorms could pose a serious threat to the standing wheat crops. Otherwise, the rainfall is good for the crop at this final stage.
